Advocacy. Empowerment. Support.

The participation rates of women and girls at every level of chess is significantly lower than the participation rates of men and boys.  There are many possible reasons for this gap but we believe two major issues are: the lack of safety at chess events and poor promotion of women’s events.

What we do…

The Women in Chess Foundation aims to solve problems affecting women in chess.  The initial focus will be on advocacy, safe-play guideline reform and marketing support, but we expect to grow into covering more areas affecting women in chess.
